About OCC

The Office of Child Welfare and Children's Mental Health (OCC) is a research and training office at the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare. Faculty, staff, and students actively involved in research, evaluation, policy analysis, program planning, and training in the areas of child welfare and children’s mental health comprise the office. OCC was established in 2002 to coordinate efforts that have been ongoing for over 25 years.

The research and training initiatives of the OCC are community-based and collaborative. Key stakeholders include the Kansas Mental Health and Child Welfare Authorities, consumers of service, and community partners. The aim of the office is to generate products that are directly applicable to practice and policy on a state and national level.

The OCC Leadership Committee directs the activities of the office. Principal Investigators who receive external funding for research or training in the office’s areas of study sit on the committee.
