Bachelor's of Social Work (BSW)

Requirements

First-year students enter the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and complete three semesters for work (at least 36 credit hours) before applying to the BSW Program

  •  Completion of at least 36 hours of course work, including Math 101 and English composition I and II.
  • A GPA of 2.5 or above
  •  Submission of completed application form, including personal statement, resume, and three recommendation forms.

Important BSW Dates

February 1st
Application deadline for KU, 2+2, and transfer students.

June 1st
Application deadline for 2+2 and transfer students only.

How to Apply

Students are admitted for fall semester only.   Applications deadlines for review are February 1st. Transfer Students may submit by June 1st .

  1. If you are not a current KU student (Transfer or 2+2) you first need to apply to KU and indicate Social Welfare as your choice.

    Students can apply online to KU through the Office of Admissions and Scholarships at http://www.admissions.ku.edu/apply/. International students may apply at http://www.iss.ku.edu/admissions/index.shtml.
     
  2. Submit a BSW application, print off and get references, apply for Change of School (if applicable)
    1. Fill out, print and return a BSW Application
      or have an application packet mailed to you to submit.
    2. Print off the Reference Form and make three copies to have filled out and submitted.
    3. Current KU students will need to complete the Application for Change of School.
