Advising - Who to contact and why

In order to help students make the best use of academic advisors, faculty and staff; the following should help guide you when you have questions. 

Staff Contacts

  • Basic Enrollment Activities, including Add/Drop/Change of Section/Withdrawal
  • Questions regarding requirements, transfers of credit, etc.
  • Change of Address/Phone/Email/Name

Academic Advisors (see Faculty Advisor Contact Information) for:

  • Philosophical discussions/clarification regarding social work and/or social work issues
  • Career and research interests
  • Clinical versus Social Work Administrative and Advocacy Practice, and areas of practice questions
  • Initial discussion and initial approval for change of status to “intermit” and/or “withdraw”  issues (student and advisor would develop the plan and date to return to the program, etc.)
  • Office hours are managed individually and posted

Specific Class Instructor for:

  •  Issues with that class
  • Difficulty with that class
  • Research interests with the faculty person who claims that area of interest
