2+2 Program Financial Aid Information

Students who are enrolled at KCKCC for their Associate’s degree would consider KCKCC their “home school,” even if they are taking courses through KU. These students would work with the KCKCC staff, along with the KU Program Coordinator at KCKCC, to apply for financial aid. KCKCC Financial Aid staff would help students prepare financial aid forms. The KU Program Coordinator would recommend students for scholarships and support from the KU SSW.

When students are enrolled with KU as their “home institution,” meaning that they have completed their Associate’s degree and are taking at least 3 hours of courses with KU, they would work with the Program Coordinator and the KU Financial Aid staff to process their financial aid. The KU Financial Aid Office would oversee the disbursal of funds when students are enrolled.

To be eligible for financial aid through KU, applicants should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by February 15th, even prior to receiving information regarding acceptance. Once notified of admission to the program, complete and submit the School of Social Welfare financial assistance form supplied in the admissions material. The FASFA materials can be obtained from all college or university financial aid offices or submitted on-online at http://www.FAFSA.ed.gov. The School of Social Welfare uses the FAFSA need determination level in determining awards.

Financial Aid opportunities

Native American Opportunities - The School receives an award from the University's Educational Opportunity Fund to aid students with a commitment to working with Native American populations to complete BSW and MSW degrees. These awards serve to increase the number of trained child welfare workers available for work with Native American children, juveniles and their families. Please contact the School for additional information.

Lynn Leban Award: The Lynn Leban award recognizes extraordinary dedication to community service by an undergraduate. This award was established by the friends and family of Lynn Leban, a local high school student with a remarkable commitment to the local community. Applicants must be in their junior or senior year with an outstanding record of service to others. A record of academic achievement which supports continued academic progress is also required.

Vernon and Jessie Branson Award: This award is restricted to students who are enrolled in the 2+2 BSW Completion Program.
